It may share the same inoffensively tasteful style of sister restaurant, Missouri, but Missouri Angel has heaps more character thanks to its location on the first floor of a diminutive former pub. On the ground floor there’s a modest bar, while the restaurant is more formal, with white napery & a pale grey & white colour scheme. Limber up with something elegant – seared tuna with cucumber vermicelli, perhaps – before hitting the upmarket animal protein: a 10oz peppered New York strip, or smoked St Louis ribs with apple & mustard ’slaw & grilled sweetcorn. Round off with pecan maple tart & vanilla ice cream, or an equally calorific baked New York cheesecake with blueberries & crème fraîche. Surprisingly, there’s relatively little from the US on the cosmopolitan wine list.
